Itinerary
Our adventure begins in the morning, leaving Quito at 7 a.m. and heading south for approximately one hour and thirty minutes. The trekking starts at the Limpiopungo Lagoon, following the trail that leads us through the páramo to the foothills of the Rumiñahui volcano, whose central peak reaches 4,643 meters above sea level. It is a place where we will fully enjoy the views as we explore this beautiful landscape. We will end the day in the city of Latacunga.
Meals: – / Box Lunch / D
Our adventure will begin in the city of Latacunga, where we will take our private 4x4 vehicle and head toward the Chimborazo volcano to start our ascent. We will then reach the first refuge, located at 4,800 meters above sea level, and walk another 200 meters to the second refuge, situated at 5,000 meters above sea level. Afterwards, we will enjoy a delicious box lunch and receive a brief talk about all the safety precautions and climbing techniques that our guides will provide. We will have dinner at 6:00 p.m. and then rest until midnight, when we will begin the climb.
We will wake up at midnight and have breakfast, and then climb to Whymper Peak; which is at 6,310 meters above sea level. It will take us approximately 7 to 8 hours to reach this peak; but when we arrive, it will be worth the effort, you will be able to have a unique view of all the Andes. It will take us about 3 to 4 hours to return to the shelter where we will collect all our equipment and return to our car, and return to Quito. B/L/-
